Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2018, Volume 13, Issue 1,   Pages 74-84 doi: 10.1007/s11465-018-0490-1

Abstract: However, the melt flow process in a closed cavity becomes more complex because of the moving cavity boundaryduring compression and the nonlinear problems caused by non-Newtonian polymer melt. The non-Newtonian characteristics and compressibility of the polymer melt were considered. The melt flow and pressure distribution in the cavity were investigated by using the proposed simulationThe back flow also plays an important role in the flow pattern and redistribution of cavity pressure.

Permeability analysis and seepage process study on crystal layer in melt crystallization with fractal

Xiaobin JIANG, Baohong HOU, Yongli WANG, Jingkang WANG

Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering 2011, Volume 5, Issue 4,   Pages 435-441 doi: 10.1007/s11705-011-1139-3

Abstract: In this paper a porous media seepage model was applied to analyze the permeability and study the seepage process of crystal pillar formed in the preparation of electronic grade phosphoric acid (EGPA). By inspecting the seeping process, the structure parameter of crystal pillar could be obtained. Two basic ideal models (perfectly separated model and perfectly connected model) were presented and a characterized factor was introduced to modify the model. A good simulation result was obtained which met the experiment result well. The relationship between and permeability were also discussed. The characterized factor showed potential application on optimizing process.

Abstract:

A historical review of in-vessel melt retention (IVR) is given, which is a severe accident mitigationfrom the back-fitting of the Generation II reactor Loviisa VVER-440 in order to cope with the core-meltThe most influential phenomena on the IVR strategy are in-vessel core melt evolution, the heat fluxesFor in-vessel melt evolution, past focus has only been placed on the melt pool convection in the lowerpool formation, may all contribute to the final state of the melt pool and its thermal loads on the

Premature melt solidification during mold filling and its influence on the as-cast structure

M. WU, M. AHMADEIN, A. LUDWIG

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2018, Volume 13, Issue 1,   Pages 53-65 doi: 10.1007/s11465-017-0437-y

Abstract:

Premature melt solidification is the solidification of a melt during mold filling. The numerical model considers three phases, namely, air, melt, and equiaxed crystals.resulting from the first contact of the melt with the cold mold during pouring. The transport of the crystals by the melt flow, in accordance with the so-called “big bang&rdquoThese crystals can also be remelted by mixing with the superheated melt.
